The Complete PMU Career Programme
Go From Complete Beginner to Building Your Own PMU Career
Training. Qualification. Business. Clients.
Beginner to Fully Booked is our complete career pathway for people who want more than a short training course. Starting from the foundations, we help you develop your permanent makeup skills, progress through the VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation qualification pathway, understand the professional steps involved in setting yourself up, and learn how to attract and convert your first clients.
This is about building the foundations of a real PMU career — not simply collecting another certificate.

More Than a Training Course
Learning PMU Is Only One Part of Building a Career
Many people enter beauty training because they want more flexibility, more independence or the opportunity to build something of their own. But learning how to perform a treatment does not automatically teach you how to build a business around it.
Beginner to Fully Booked was created to connect those pieces — combining professional PMU training and qualification progression with practical business-building support, so you are not left trying to figure everything out alone after your course.
After training, new artists often still ask
- How do I become properly qualified?
- What licences or permissions do I need?
- Where can I legally work?
- What equipment do I actually need?
- How should I price my treatments?
- How do I create a portfolio when I'm new?
- How do I find clients?
- What should I post online?
- How do I respond when somebody enquires?
- How do I turn an enquiry into an appointment?
- How do I stop relying on discounted model appointments?
The Goal
From “I Want a New Career” to “I Know What to Do Next”
The objective is to give you a clear route from complete beginner to professionally trained PMU artist with the knowledge, tools and support required to begin building a sustainable client base. Through the programme you will work towards developing:
- Professional PMU treatment skills
- A recognised Level 4 qualification pathway
- Practical treatment confidence
- A professional portfolio
- An understanding of insurance and local requirements
- An appropriate treatment setup
- Clear treatment pricing
- Your PMU brand and positioning
- A professional enquiry and booking process
- A marketing plan
- Social media content
- Client attraction strategies
- Sales and follow-up skills
- Client retention processes
- A plan for continued business growth
This programme provides education, practical training, qualification support and business guidance. It does not guarantee that any student will become fully booked, achieve a particular income or receive approval from an insurer or local authority.
The 5-Phase Career Pathway
Your Beginner to Fully Booked Pathway
One programme. Five stages. A clear route from training to building your PMU business.
- 1
Phase One
Learn the Profession
Build Your Core PMU Skills
Your journey starts by developing the technical foundations of permanent makeup across Hairstrokes, Ombré / Powder Brows, Lip Blush and Eyeliner. Training develops both practical ability and the professional knowledge required to work safely and confidently.
Topics may include
- · Consultation
- · Health and safety
- · Hygiene and infection control
- · Skin knowledge
- · Contraindications
- · Colour theory
- · Pigment selection
- · Treatment planning
- · Facial assessment
- · Mapping
- · Equipment and machine handling
- · Needles and cartridges
- · Practical technique
- · Healing
- · Aftercare
- · Client documentation
You are not simply learning how to create a brow or lip treatment. You are learning how to think and work like a professional practitioner.
- 2
Phase Two
Progress Towards Level 4
VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation Qualification Pathway
The programme includes progression through our VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation qualification pathway — VTCT Skills Level 4 Certificate in Micropigmentation (ref 600/3288/1). The Level 4 route goes beyond attending a practical course: you complete the relevant learning, practical evidence and assessment requirements.
This may involve
- · Theory learning
- · Professional knowledge
- · Practical treatment evidence
- · Portfolio development
- · Treatment documentation
- · Assessment
- · Case-study or evidence requirements where applicable
- · Tutor / assessor feedback
Successful completion of all required learning, evidence and assessments is required to achieve the qualification.
- 3
Phase Three
Get Professionally Set Up
Turn Your Training Into a Real Working Setup
Once you start thinking about treating clients professionally, a new set of questions appears. This phase helps you understand the practical steps involved in setting yourself up correctly.
Support may cover
- · Professional insurance guidance
- · Understanding local authority requirements
- · Needle / special treatment licensing guidance where applicable
- · Premises requirements
- · Home studio considerations
- · Treatment-room setup
- · Infection-control setup
- · Clinical waste and sharps
- · Professional equipment
- · Consumables
- · Client consultation forms
- · Consent
- · Record keeping
- · Aftercare documentation
- · Booking policies
PMU Skool provides guidance and preparation support. Local authority licensing decisions, premises approval and insurance acceptance are controlled by the relevant authorities and providers and cannot be guaranteed.
- 4
Phase Four
Build Your PMU Business
Stop Thinking Like a Student. Start Thinking Like a Business Owner.
Being technically good at PMU is essential. But clients still need to discover you, trust you and decide to book with you. This phase creates the commercial foundations behind your new career.

Build Your Client Base
Learn How to Turn Attention Into Appointments
The final part focuses on the skill many training courses barely cover: finding and converting paying clients. You learn the principles behind a repeatable client-acquisition process rather than posting on Instagram and hoping somebody books.

- · Client retention
The objective is not a temporary burst of enquiries. It is to teach you the foundations of a system you can keep using as your skills, confidence and reputation grow.
The Client Journey
Understand the Whole Client Journey
A successful PMU business is not built from one Instagram post. We help you understand how each stage connects so you can build a more professional and repeatable booking process.

Realistic Expectations
What “Fully Booked” Means
“Beginner to Fully Booked” describes the journey this programme is built to support — from having no PMU career to developing the professional foundations and client-building systems required to work towards a busy treatment diary. It is not a promise that every student will become fully booked within a specific period.
How quickly your business develops can depend on
- Treatment quality
- Continued practice
- Location
- Pricing
- Competition
- Portfolio quality
- Marketing consistency
- Responsiveness to enquiries
- Sales ability
- Client experience
- Time invested
- Implementation of the training
Our job is to give you the training, structure, tools and support.
Your job is to apply them consistently.

A New Direction
What Could a Career in PMU Give You?
People enter permanent makeup for different reasons. Some want a second income. Some want a career they can build around family. Some want to leave employment. Some want to add a high-value service to an existing beauty business. And some simply want to build something of their own.
Permanent makeup can create those opportunities, but it still requires skill, professionalism, patience and consistent business development. Beginner to Fully Booked gives you a structured place to start.

Questions
Beginner to Fully Booked FAQs
Do I need any PMU experience?+
No. Beginner to Fully Booked is designed to accommodate people starting from the beginning. We will discuss your existing qualifications and experience before enrolment to confirm the appropriate training and qualification pathway.
What PMU treatments will I learn?+
The programme includes training across Hairstrokes, Ombré / Powder Brows, Lip Blush and Eyeliner as part of the wider micropigmentation pathway.
Does the programme include VTCT Level 4?+
Yes. Beginner to Fully Booked includes progression through our VTCT Level 4 Micropigmentation qualification pathway. Successful completion of the relevant training, evidence and assessments is required to achieve the qualification.
Is this the same as the £3,999 VTCT Level 4 course?+
No. The £3,999 programme focuses on PMU training and progression through the VTCT Level 4 qualification pathway. Beginner to Fully Booked includes that pathway but adds wider professional setup, business, marketing, sales, client-acquisition and career-development support.
Will you help me get my licence?+
We provide guidance around the licensing and professional setup process. Requirements vary by local authority and location, and the final decision is made by the relevant authority, so licence approval cannot be guaranteed.
Will you help me with premises?+
We provide guidance on the considerations involved in setting up an appropriate treatment environment, including home-based or commercial options where relevant. Any premises must ultimately meet the requirements applicable to the student's local authority, insurer and circumstances.
Do you help with marketing?+
Yes. Business development is a core part of Beginner to Fully Booked. The programme covers areas including positioning, pricing, portfolio development, social media, content, client attraction, enquiry handling, follow-up and converting suitable enquiries into bookings.
Will you run my marketing for me?+
The programme is designed to teach you how to build and operate your own client-acquisition system. Any done-for-you services, if offered separately, will be clearly specified before purchase and should not be assumed to be included.
Do you guarantee that I will become fully booked?+
No. “Beginner to Fully Booked” describes the journey and objective of the programme. Client numbers and business results depend on individual circumstances, skill development, location, implementation, marketing activity and other factors. We provide training, systems, guidance and support but cannot guarantee a particular business result.
How quickly can I start earning?+
There is no fixed timescale. Students progress at different speeds, and professional requirements should be completed before treating paying clients. Building a strong PMU business takes practical development, consistent marketing and time.
Can I work from home?+
Potentially, depending on your local authority, insurer and the suitability of your premises. Requirements vary by area. We provide guidance, but students must confirm the requirements that apply to their own location.
What if I am already trained in PMU?+
If you already have significant PMU training, Beginner to Fully Booked may not be the most cost-effective route. Our VTCT Level 4 Upgrade Programme or another pathway may be more appropriate. Speak to an advisor and we will help you identify the right option.
Are payment plans available?+
Flexible payment arrangements may be available subject to the current programme terms and agreement with the training team. Speak to a career advisor for the available options.
Is income guaranteed?+
No. PMU Skool does not guarantee earnings, bookings or business success. The programme teaches the skills, qualification pathway and business systems designed to help students build their careers, but results vary.
